1. Scope
This test method describes a laboratory procedure for determining the resistance to the combined impact, indentation, and scratch forces involved during the gouging of resilient materials, such as resilient floor coverings. While intended for multi-layer, laminated plastic materials used to construct resilient floor coverings, the test procedure described may be applicable to other materials and manufactured products.
This laboratory test procedure addresses the need to generate reproducible gouges on materials such as resilient flooring by combining an impact and scratch test. By calculating the resulting indentation and groove damage, resistance to gouging can be quantified and compared.
