New Specification for Manufactured In-Place Composite Pipe (MICP) Inside Pipelines
1. Scope
1.1 This specification covers spray-applied lining materials and reinforcement materials for the manufactured in-place composite pipe (MICP) rehabilitation of pressure and non-pressure pipelines and conduits with 42-144 in. (1066-3658 mm) diameter constructed of metallic and non-metallic materials. This MICP rehabilitation process can be used in a variety of applications such as potable water, sewer, gas, and petroleum pipelines. This specification is suited for the evaluation and testing of materials used in the rehabilitation of existing pipelines by the installation and cure of MICP composite linings. 1.2 This specification can also be extended to cover manholes, wet wells, storage tanks, and other similar structures where MICP lining is applicable. 1.3 Units--The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. The rationale of this standard is to provide design and consulting engineers, utility and pipeline owners, and municipalities, as well as pipeline contractors, a specification pursuant to the materials, methodologies, and testing requirements for renewal of pipelines using manufactured in-place pipe (MICP). Furthermore, there are no current specification standards for spray applied linings using in-situ-appointed continuous reinforcement to manufacture remotely semi-structural and fully structural composite linings inside pipelines.
