New Specification for Fuel Quantity Indicating Systems (FQIS) for Liquid, Gaseous, and Electrical Energy Sources
1. Scope
This specification establishes functional operation and minimum performance requirements for systems that provide fuel (or power) quantity information to a pilot, aircraft, or other systems. Functional requirements cover basic operation, quantity indication, startup of electronically driven systems, accuracy , and software while environmental requirements include temperature and altitude, vibration, operational shocks, humidity, fuel properties, explosion-proofness, electrical power input, abnormal surge voltage, signal susceptibility, freedom from excessive radio frequency emissiosn , lightning induced effects, electrostatic discharge, flammability.
Keywords
aircraft fuel; aircraft fuel quantity; aircraft power quantity
Rationale
While some of the material related to accuracy standards and the accuracy calculations are relevant to all aircraft, flammable fuel hazards are unique to a battery flammability hazard and should be handled separately
